Overcoming Low Self-Esteem

Imagine that.  How does a person change their entire outlook?

That was a really hard question for me to answer. As a blind woman; how did I know for sure that I would be judged “acceptable” to others? How would I know for certain that I looked presentable? I literally couldn’t see what other women were wearing and doing with their hair and makeup.

I struggled for many years to find suitable answers to these questions.  My value as a person became connected to them.

I had to get creative with my solutions. I decided that I would have to create my own style; one that I could ”see.”

Then I learned to love who I was becoming on the inside.  Next I just decided that I needed to introduce this totally cool person around to meet others.  I pretended that I was literally introducing someone other than myself to people.  This took away the pressure to be accepted. This actually works in every single social situation if you think about it.

Once I made it that far; then it became a matter of discovering new ways to share myself with the world.  That is how I did it.
